EVALUATION FOR DEVELOPMENT
IMPLEMENTING THE GLOBAL EVALUATION AGENDA AT THE EUROPEAN AND NATIONAL LEVELS

The role of evaluation in addressing critical social and economic issues and its contribution to the public and private sectors in Greece was the focus of the 1st Annual Conference of the Hellenic Evaluation Society (HES), held on October 12, 2017, at Technopolis, City of Athens. The keynote speaker was Mr. Lois Lambriniadis, General Secretary for Strategic and Private Investments.

Conference Theme
The theme, "Evaluation for Development", was centred on the triptych of development and investment, international practices, and social impact. The speakers unanimously emphasized the importance of evaluation as an essential element of governance and public policy management.
Future Announcement
It was also announced that the European Evaluation Society's (EES) Conference would take place on October 1-5, 2018, in Thessaloniki, focusing on the role of evaluation in empowering society after a decade of crises and transformations, in a rapidly changing Europe.
HES President Dimitra Ioannou highlighted in her opening remarks:
"The vision of the Hellenic Evaluation Society is to contribute to the improvement of public policies by ensuring their clear targeting and effectiveness."
